With the completion of the new station at Weston Wharf, Cambrian Heritage Railways are excited to offer train rides on some of our superb heritage rolling stock from Oswestry into Weston Wharf. As the train winds its way out of the urban landscape of Oswestry town, the old industrial buildings give way to the beautiful Shropshire countryside, and waiting for you at the end of the journey is the Stonehouse Brewery Beer & BBQ restaurant which offers fine ale and runs tours and tastings.

Our trains are operated with a mixture of restored rolling stock from tourist coaches to suburban commuter saloons, and recaptures the charm of a steam hauled branch line service from the golden age of the railways.

Whenever possible, these services will be steam hauled, however there will be days where it is necessary to use one of our heritage diesel locomotives, or a DMU to operate the services.

Further down the old running line to Welshpool is our Llynclys site which is built at the location of the old cattle dock which served the original Llynclys station before the closure of the main line. A period authentic building was constructed in the style of a Great Western country branch line station from which our services operate toward the village of Pant.

When services start running again they will be operated using one of our diesel industrial shunting engines with a brake van.

At the far end of the line, the station halt at Penygarreg Lane has been built in the traditional style of a Great Western branch line halt, and gives a taste of one of the many branch lines which criss-crossed Shropshire and Wales during the heyday of steam.
