The latest arrival for restoration at Llynclys is a BR Mk 1 CL E43046. This was previously at the National Railway Museum at York where it had been in storage for many years.
Following negotiations the deal was closed and the coach was collected from York and brought to CHR. There has been much interest in the coach and whilst a full evaluation needs to be completed the first inspections show that the general condition is a bit rough round the edges but underneath there is a good basis from which to start. The restoration required is similar to the work the C&W team have already undertaken. It will take time and money to return the coach to operating condition.
The configuration of the coach is of two sets of compartments separated by two toilets in the middle. There are five third class and three first class compartments, each set with a single toilet.
