In last few weeks at Cambrian Railway Orchard Project we’ve been finishing the clearance of hedge brash on site and made another ‘dead hedge’, which the birds seem to appreciate and which we are hoping that they will use to nest in.
The hedge is really taking shape.
We also have a section right at the end of the CROP too.
Allan Braddock and Chris Williams are on the home straight of Operation Galvanised (below) – over the last four years we have been replacing the old wooden posts with ex lampposts due to the wooden posts having rotted in the earth and are failing.
Here is one of the posts waiting to be replaced, the holes are dug all ready to be swapped out.
Ronanni Spreafico is coming to the end of winter pruning of all the standards / espaliers and cordons.
Some of the trees are starting to show bud and blossom.
Smitta is enlarging our soft fruit bed
She has also pruned and mulched all the plants.
Our compost bins are ready for the season.
Our volunteer container which we use to shelter and have the occasional cup of tea has always been very dark at the far end, now it has a small double glazed window secured with a metal rail this is to illuminate the shelving, as this area is south facing it has a good amount of direct light.
We have a large collection of random tyres which have been fly tipped on our land, these are slowly filling up a skip that we can send to refuse.
